How to Add Google’s +1 Button to your ProStores Store

Just today Google announced a great new tool, a +1 button that you can install on your store’s pages, this button lets people who visit your site recommend the page they are visiting.

“+1 buttons let people who love your content recommend it on Google search ” – Google +1 Button Page

We have put together a guide on how to install the Google +1 button in your store and then also how to set it up so that if you have Google Analytics installed in your ProStores store it will track it.

Here we go!

      1. Open the Page Template Manager and save a baseline for the Header template then open it and select Source Editor
      2. Locate this tag </head> in your header template. Press enter a couple times to create a couple extra lines of space just above the /head tag.
      3. Paste in the following code to enable the +1 button:
      <script type="text/javascript" src=""></script>
      then just below that put this code in to track your +1 clicks in Google Analytics:
      <script type="text/javascript">
        function plusone_vote( obj ) {
      (Analytics code written by Yoast).
      4. Next step, pick your +1 button size

  • Small (15px) – <g:plusone size="small"></g:plusone>
  • Medium (20px) – <g:plusone size="medium"></g:plusone>
  • Standard (24px) – <g:plusone></g:plusone>
  • Tall (60px) – <g:plusone size="tall"></g:plusone>
    1. 5. Find the locations on your store that you would like the button to show up and paste one of the 4 codes above in.

Not only will the buttons show up on your store’s pages, but if you get enough votes, how many google won’t say, the +1 button will show up in the search results next the link to your site!

    Any suggestions? I can't find anywhere to enter code in individual product pages, and I can't figure out where to drop in the button code in the generic header page. I'm good through step 4. BTW, I'm not an HTML person. Just following the directions. I'd love to get this working.

    • I’m guessing you are using ‘Page Builder’ for the Product and Category templates? I’m glad you brought that up, if you are using ‘Page Builder’ there is no way to use the Source Editor. Now you can get around but it requires some coding of your store template. To do that for you we would need to do the Professional Install listed below.

  2. How do you get the +1 button to show next to the product name on the product details page. When I put in it goes below the title and not at end of title. Also, if someone was interested, how would you put it under the add to cart box on the product detail page? Thanks

    • Since everyone’s product detail template code is different in some way I wouldn’t really be able to provide a personalized tutorial via the comments section here. If you would like some help we could certainly talk via phone or email about a consulting session. If you just wanted it done then you could purchase the Professional Install for this plugin at the bottom of the post, I would then review your store’s template code and install it for you.
